Why Network

who do we help?

Becoming a Networking Champion

Training summary from Jim Harris, Regional Director, Money Concepts Capital

You must provide the absolute best service possible.  Otherwise, why would someone put themselves into the position of referring their clients, family, and friends.  A referral that I give you breaks down barriers because I have given you my credibility.  My credibility may be damaged if you don’t do a good job.  “A customer must be Delighted with your service”

·       Clearly define what makes you Different, Better, Special

·       A networking group that is not growing with new members, visitor traffic, events, and member turnover is a dead networking group.  You must be continually recruiting new members and inviting visitors.  Existing members must be held accountable.

·       Networking requires actual work and effort from each of you.  You cannot just come to meetings expecting to GET.  You must also give.

·       Networking consists of (inside or outside of the group):

1.    Making Contacts – Meeting new people and exchanging contact information

2.    Making Connections – Taking the time to know your contact on a business level

3.    Becoming Trusted Partners – Making an effort to know your connection on a personal level and actively sharing business

A very important question that was asked.  “if I install a light switch, what can I do to ensure that the customer will call me back next time”.

1.    You must have a delighted customer

2.    Becoming the go-to expert and/or achieving celebrity status

3.    You must touch that customer continually throughout the year through some marketing mechanism such as “dripping”

4.    If you are not continually touching your customer/client base they will forget about you at that critical “need” or “purchase” or “referral” moment.

If you don’t apply what you have learned in this chapter then it will be of no value to you.

Members have suggested some really great ideas…

  ·       Anna Nix- Purchase another table & chairs.  Running out of room for members & visitors

·       Mary Beth- Design and order NGBL fold over invite cards

·       Cindy- Obtain a quote on purchasing several copies “Your Important Who”

·       Anna Nix- Create a library of networking books and materials for members to “check-out”

·       Hope- Develop a calendar with our logo then distribute proceeds to fire, police, rescue

·       John- provide a platform for those recently unemployed to come and network with us

·       John/Jim- Conduct an expo or recruiting drive.  Combine all of our contacts for a combined advertising blitz.

These are all great ideas but each requires an owner.  If the person who suggested the idea can prepare a plan, cost, etc we can evaluate each one.
